This certified Passive House tucked in Emerald hills was created to mirror the aesthetic of a traditional weatherboard cottage, whilst outperforming its design inspiration in every way. Using 140mm wall frames and deep floor joists, we were able to maximise thermal efficiency through the use of bulk insulation. A certified Passive House wrap system for air and weather tightness was used to achieve the .38ACH, putting us well below the minimum requirement for Passive House airtightness of .6ACH. This house is the first in Australia to be a certified Passive House with a wood-burning fireplace. Winning the award for MBAV’s Best Sustainable Home in 2018, this project is a real point of pride for Granted Constructions.
